Letter I wrote to Noahs Teacher and Principle about him being bullied!!!

To Whom this may concern,

In the code of behaviour it says that bullying is a repeated, persistent and aggressive behaviour directed at an individual that is intended to cause(or should be known to cause) fear/distress and/or harm to another persons body, feelings, self esteem or reputation.

In the Code of Conduct under Safety it states that all members of the school community must not engage in bullying behaviours.

In the Bullying Prevention & Procedure Policy that is on the UCDSB website it clearly says that Bullying affects students ability to learn and it also says that bullying will not be accepted on school property. I have highlighted some important statements within this procedure and attached it with this letter.

Last week as I am sure you remember Noah was being picked on during recess by 3 children and I wrote you a letter the next day about it in his agenda. He was playing basketball and 2 boys and a girl kwpt taking the ball from Noah and then started hitting him. Noah tried to run away from them and he said they were too fast and they stopped him and started hitting him again and wouldn't let him go. I wrote you a note in his agenda about this incident. On Friday I was informed that Noah was being bullied again and this time it went to the point of him crying really bad. The same 2 boys and the girl were pushing Noah around and off the playground and they were also hitting him. His cousins Brittany, Briana and Connor seen it all. They went over to Noah and picked him up and took him over to the teacher(Suppose to be a safe place, GUESS NOT!!). The teacher told the kids to apologize and then walked away. In my opinion the children should have been put on time outs or lose there recess or something since this is an incident that keeps happening. If Noah can get his recess taken away or he has to sit on a timeout for being disruptive in class then why isn't something being done about these children How is it fair that Noah gets things taken away but bullies can get away with anything they want. How is that fair to any child?. Please ask Brittany Major, Briana Major, and Connor Brown about the incident that happened Friday because they seen it and they are the ones that went and got Noah away from those kids. They were a little too late because Noahs body and emotions were already harmed since he was crying when they went over to him. Who knows how far this would have gone if his cousins didn’t run over to him and pick him up.

Noah does have ADHD and he also has ear problems that his doctors are looking into and with these conditions also comes behavioural problems which you are fully aware of. If this bullying continues I guarantee that this will affect his behaviour in school and he will become worse to handle.

I know that Noah is not an Angel and he does do his fair share of things that he isn’t suppose to do but no child deserves to be bullied. I want to work with you to help resolve this issue before it becomes worse. I would appreciate if you could set up a meeting between Me, Mike, you and the principle so we can communicate more about what’s going on.

Thank You,

Angel Lewis

P.S- Kids should feel safe at school. At Noah’s age, the opinion he has for school now, is what is setting his foundation for his entire educational years… very important….so hopefully we can straighten this out before he ends up hating school for good.

Noahs Severe Ear Infection

Yesterday morning Noah woke up screaming and crying really bad and he was saying that his ears were hurting him and that he couldnt handle it so We kept Noah home from school yesterday, We took him to the doctor the doctor said that he has a severe ear infection, fluid in his ears and his ear drum is about to rupture. Noah just started complaining at 3am yesterday that his ear hurt, the doctor said that it came on fast. He gave him some antibiotics for his ear and wants to see him again in 3 weeks for a check up and to get his vaccine!!The doctor also told us to get him some cough medicine for his sniffles and cough so we went to get some and the pharmacist said that he can't have any with the Adderral XR that he is on for his ADHD cause it reacts to each other and makes both meds not work as well as they are suppose to. She also said that if we did try it that Noah could end up with some kind of Syndrome so once she said that we put the cough medicine back on the shelf, I am not chancing anything like that!!!!The doctor also wants to check his sight and hearing in a few weeks cause last week he was having trouble seing the eye chart at the doctors. He also wants to make sure in a few weeks that the fluid in his ear is gone and if it isnt then its more then just an ear infection and there is an underlying problem with his ears. If there is still fluid in his ear in a few weeks then he will be sent to an ears, nose and throat specialist.

We were thinking that maybe this could also be why he is acting out in class. Any opinions???

Symptoms of his ADHD and ODD

He has these symptoms of ADHD...

not seem to listen, easily distracted from schoolwork or play, forget things, squirm or fidget, talk too much, not be able to play quietly, act and speak without thinking, have trouble taking turns, interrupt others.

He also has ODD with these symptoms....

Frequent temper tantrums, Excessive Arguing with adults, Refusing to follow the rules, Active defiance and refusal to comply with adult requests and rules, Deliberately annoying and upsetting people, Blaming others for mistakes, Easily annoyed by others, Angry and resentful, Mean and hateful talking when upset, Spiteful or even revengeful.

I went to pick Noah up from school yesterday and the teacher told me that he was being very disruptive in class. He took everyones pencils and broke them, then he wrote all over everybodys erasers and took stuff off the teachers desk. They were doing there journals and the teacher moved him beside a child that is really calm and him and Noah get along great, well Noah took the boys journal and scribbled all over the picture he drew. The little boy cried cause he was very happy with the picture and was very sad when Noah ruined it. Noah keeps telling her No and I dont have to do that. She told me that she wants to have a meeting with The principle, her, Mike and I next week to talk about Noahs behaviour.
